Tye’s 27-year coaching experience and keen innovation technologized baseball game analytics and transcended the sports industry into the 21st Century. A retired MLB third baseman, Tye mastered many MLB positions throughout his career as a Major League Coach, Manager, Professional Baseball Executive, Director of Player Development, and Roving Instructor of Player Development.
A first base coach for the Oakland Athletics, Tye embraced the use of analytics and made a significant contribution to the way that the A’s gather and organize their data through technology. He pointed out that teams have to know how to put that data to use, how to anticipate trends, and how to create an environment with the chemistry in which players will succeed. For eight years, Tye collected data on opposing players and methodically building an application that gave the team an advantage on defense and on the bases. The Athletics built a system called the Tye Solution, named after Tye Waller. After retiring, Tye is now a Real Estate Investor, active in MLB Youth Events and MLB Scout.
